Fulcrum Red Power XL Disc Wheelset 2011
The Fulcrum family of clincher wheels has changed and now has a new name: Red Power.
Red Power is the name of a project designed to raise the bar on performance and reliability of a type of wheel that still has a large following in the world of off-road enthusiasts: wheels for clincher tires.
The engineers of the Fulcrum R&D department have developed new and highly evolved production processes and innovative technical solutions that made it possible to create a family of wheels that stands
out not only for the breadth of the offer in terms of both performance and price levels, but most of all for a standard of quality that rises far above the market benchmark.
Keeping with Fulcrum tradition, a change of name means better performance: the new milled rim is of a higher standard and the weight is set at 1740g.
Thanks to the straight-head spokes and oversize hub, the wheel is also extremely reliable and reactive and can be put to full use on any race track or for long cycling trips with friends.
The superior quality sealed industrial bearings, provide incredible smoothness that remains unaltered over time, and the 20mm aluminium axle guarantees a considerable reduction in weight along with a high level of stiffness, all to the advantage of steering precision. The exclusive 5-axis hub machining system makes it possible to create a spoke seat perfectly, which provides a precise line of spoke tensioning. With this solution, the tension values are the same at every point of the spoke, thus reducing stress on the rim and on the spokes and keeping the wheel balanced.

2:1 Two-to-One Spoke Ratio
The 2:1 Two-to-One system has been used for all the rear wheels and for the first time
Fulcrum has also extended their advantages to all the front wheels fitted with disc brakes.
The doubling of the spokes on the critical side makes it possible to reduce the unit load
borne by each spoke as the spokes themselves are no longer subject to the mechanical
stress resulting from the different disc.
Oversize Axle
The hubs designed for Fulcrum wheels employ a generously dimensioned design for
both the central body and for the rotation axis. The diameter of the latter, 20 mm for
all the models with disc brakes, guarantees high resistance to transverse and torsional
stresses. A contribution is also made to this result by the mechanical architecture of
the hub which, in the AFSTM version, is provided with bearings with a double ball-bearing
race positioned outside the flange, so that it is aligned with the disc on the respective side.
