Handcrafted tires combine a multitude of outstanding properties to offer the highest level of comfort and the lowest possible rolling resistance. Carefully selected materials are used in the various tire levels depending on the usage. Soft, supple carcasses adapt quickly to the shape of the ground when rolling and when cornering. This increases ground contact and grip and improves shock absorption on poor road surfaces. Soft, natural rubber profiles are combined with light, flexible puncture protection.
The three types of handmade carcasses can be thought of as similar to shirts made from the same material. The best carcasses, like the finest suits, ties, scarves and shirts, are made from silk. Silk is a strong, soft, natural fiber, but the high cost factor and the elaborate processing mean that this level of quality is almost exclusively reserved for world championships and Olympic competitions.
